OUR STORY

My name is Ryan Toelkes, I am the owner of Xavier Homes. The company is a real estate investment company. The objective of the company is to restore existing or build new high quality single family homes that we offer at a fair rent to our tenants.

Why did I decide to call it Xavier Homes?  I named this company after my grandfather Francis Xavier Coon. This is a commemorative honor for one of the best men I have known in my lifetime. It is also to me, a promise to always uphold the highest standards in my business dealings from the quality of our construction to interactions with our clients.

BACKGROUND

I was raised by a single mom Cynthia Coon and my Grandfather who was a huge part of my upbringing. He was my father as a young boy. He taught me many things: how to play chess, fish, carpentry, how to work hard, save money, how to be a kind and a stand-up person.

He was a disabled veteran who fought in the Korean war, Army 5th, Sergeant 1st class was his rank. Even though he walked with a cane everywhere we went, he would never park in a handicap spot- one time as a boy I asked him why not park closer to the entrance and he told me "R.J., (that's what he called me) there are always people worse off than we are" and that was just the kind of man he was.

Spending so much time with an older generation that lived thru the depression really gave me an advantage over many people my age. I learned to be extremely hard working and developed an extraordinarily strong work ethic that I attribute a lot of from my interactions with him.

As he got older and his health starting fading, we would only have moments of clarity with him. One of my last memories I have was him hearing and learning about my other company that I started at the age of 21 (Neighborhood Painting & Restoration Inc.)  He said to me " We are owning businesses now? ". I could tell in his voice and eyes how proud he was of how far his family had come and that has stuck with me to this day.

When he finally passed on Sept 14, 2010, I wanted to honor him by buying and dressing him in a suit. In the breast pocket of that suit I placed one of his dog tags and I have the other one never too far away from me.
